Scary Stories to tell in the Dark is a horror film based on the 90’s young adult book series. I have read all the books when I was younger and I was so into them at the time. So when I heard that they were making a film about it I was like “cool”. When I heard that Guillermo del Toro was going to be involved with the film I was like “FUCKING SIGN ME UP”! I really love this film! While it is no Hereditary or The Witch, it is pretty fucking fun! The story is somewhat forgettable and the resolution happens pretty quick, but the acting, scares and the way it looks makes me forget about all of that! The acting is great and you can tell the children actors put in their best effort. The way this film looks is incredible as well! The color pallet is beautiful and the set design is amazing. This film is PG-13, but the scares really do deliver and they do push the rating to the edge. This is probably the best PG-13 horror film. The creatures also look terrifying and the film would not have been the same if Guillermo del Toro was not involved. In the end, Scary Stories to tell in the Dark is fun, scary and just overall really well made, even if the end can be a little bittersweet. My names Plasticnut and I give Scary Stories to tell in the Dark 8 out of 10 acorns!
